Bluestninja's Summer Vacation - Newsletter 6.05
Ciao and cheers and beisos and all that greeting stuff...
The first day of summer is here and I already got to see a gigantic orange moon come up over the East Bay Hills by scrambling up my neighbor's rooftop after the Giants television broadcast let me know it was happening.
If that doesn't scream summer, well....I mean, really. Two bits of interest for you for June while you momentarily turn on your computer.
1) My Half-Self Portrait needlepoint was accepted into the 2005 Fiber Art Juried Exhibition curated by the Santa Cruz Art League. A juried exhibition means that I sent them some slides along with lots of other people, they chose one of my pieces along with pieces from other artists, they show them in an exhibition, and then I think all the artists get together and have some kind of sack race. I'm unclear what the winner gets, besides a championship sack.
The exhibition opens on July 2 and runs through July 24. There will be an opening reception on July 9, which I'm hoping to make.
If you get a chance, go check it out. Should be good.
2) I mentioned last time that I was working on a new needlepoint and that maybe this would be the first one worked on in four different countries. It's finished, having been worked on in the United States, Mexico, England, and Portugal. However, my mom (aka, my needlepoint sensei) has mentioned that actually she holds the record and that I don't have much of a shot of breaking it. Oh, I'll try mom...er, sensei. I'll try.
Go ahead and find out more about Three Kinds of Stupid.
(It really explains a lot, I know).
